Other funders are experimenting with even more nontraditional philanthropic approaches. For example, Pierre and Pam Omidyar, who made their fortune from eBay, announced in 2004 that they would reorganize their giving and fold the assets of the Omidyar Foundation into the Omidyar Network, a structure that will allow them to invest in activities that dovetail with their philanthropic interests, whether or not the activities are undertaken by a nonprofit, a for-profit, or a public sector agency.
